Are you part of a non-profit, charity, voluntary group or community organisation that could use a regular delivery of food?
Food Sharing Edinburgh is delighted to offer you a free food delivery service!
We represent a food-waste reduction movement that connects businesses with excess food to people who can eat it.
Since 2015, our volunteer community has been working hard to develop this service as a way of making surplus food in Edinburgh more accessible. We envision a system that ends the status quo of food waste in our community!
How the service works:
Our volunteers collect and redistribute good-quality food from local businesses to the community, for free. Depending on your location, our volunteers could deliver food directly to you.
What you can expect from us:
- Free food delivered on a regular basis (mainly bread, pastries, vegetables, sandwiches, and salads)
- A plastic box to store food (if required)
- Leaflets with information about Food Sharing
Our ability to deliver food depends on volunteer availability, and the food surplus on that day. We endeavour to provide a regular service, but we cannot guarantee that food will be delivered.
If you can accept food in the evening, we are more likely to be able to deliver. We are also giving preference to groups in the Tollcross and Easter Road areas.
Our partner businesses have no obligation to donate their food, but choose to to avoid seeing good food go to waste. We ask that you do not sell or throw away the food we deliver.
If you think your group or organisation could benefit from a partnership with Food Sharing, or you would just like some more information, please get in touch by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
