Mass draft excluder crafting

🕐 Tuesday, November 8, 2022

🏢 Zero Waste Hub, 22 Bread Street, EH3 9AF

From 7:30pm

The SHRUB and the Meadows Share Winterproofing team (https://www.facebook.com/groups/warmedinburgh) are collaborating to host a mass crafting session at the Zero Waste Hub. Come along to make draft excluders for yourself and for those living locally who are being affected by the massive increase in heating costs this winter.

As the energy crisis is already hitting hard we’d like to help everyone keep warm while reducing bills. Join us to make a door or window draught excluder for yourself, for a relative or just to practise your sewing skills. We’d like to make extra excluders during or after the workshop so they’ll be available at the Zero Waste Hub for anyone who needs one of those handmade heat saviours.

- Please bring your own material for the cover and stuffing (fabric, worn off garment, rags, etc.)

- Beginner friendly

- Bring the width measurement of doors or windows you wish to pad

No registration needed.

This event is FREE.

ACCESS NOTES

The Zero Waste Hub is on the ground floor with a small step at the entrance. A ramp is available upon request. All the public spaces throughout the building are step free and there are gender neutral and powerchair accessible toilets (no changing places toilet) with hand rails.

SHRUB is a sober space with quiet music and low lighting. Noisy sirens do go through the neighbourhood. We do not have a hearing loop installed.

Our venue is located near bus stops served by the following routes: 2, 35, 34, 16, 11, 24, 12, 10, 36, 47. There is limited on-street parking and paid parking on Castle Terrace (roughly 300 metres away by foot on partially cobbled path or 400+ via flatter paved paths).

If you have further questions regarding accessibility, please contact the Zero Waste Hub on 0131 281 0583 or at hello@shrubcoop.org.

SHRUB Coop is supported through a combination of grant funding and generous donations from our community. We’re grateful for all their support. Find out more about our grant funders by clicking on the logos above.
