Finance and Admin Working Group Volunteer

Outline of role:

The finance and admin working group is comprised of 4 task groups, the Accounts Team, Data Team, HR Team and the Social Enterprise Team. We work together alongside other members of the community to manage the organisations accounts and budgets, databases, staff files and business development. FAWG volunteers have the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills (listed below).

Accounting Group

  • Tasks include:
    • Processing grant claims.
    • Logging financial transactions.
    • Budgeting and cashflow.
    • Maintaining associated process documents and guide

Data Group

  • Tasks include:
    • Managing the Mailbox
    • Creating and maintaining mailing lists
    • Other data gathering or processing tasks required by working groups across SHRUB
    • Maintaining associated process documents and guides

HR Group

  • Tasks include:
    • Managing recruitment cycles – filing applications, shortlisting, interviews, email contacts, feedback
    • Creating new staff documents, SCVO/HMRC/Pensions
    • Updating recruitment processes
    • Maintaining associated process documents and guides

Funding Group

  • Tasks include:
    • Finding new grant money for projects and tracking general grant information and opportunities.
    • Maintaining associated process documents and guides

Social Enterprise Group

  • Tasks include:
    • Creating projects that will increase income, either from existing work or novel projects.
    • Maintaining associated process documents and guides

Volunteer Coordination Group

  • Tasks include:
    • Assisting with the management of the working group as a whole.
    • Organising FAWG Open meetings
    • Reporting to the SHRUB Open meetings
    • Communicating with FAWG volunteers and engaging them in the broader activities of the working group.

Skills, experience and attitude needed:

  • Mathematical skills and attention to detail
  • Strategic thinking
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • a friendly, polite and respectful attitude towards other volunteers

Practical Details

  • 3 – 15 hours per week
  • Each group has its own open management meeting every month.
