Outline of role: As part of this year’s Waste Action Grant, we have built a portable pop-up swap shop to take around student accommodation and spread the word around the magic of swapping!You will be facilitating the swapping and promoting a community working to reduce waste and save carbon emissions. This should be explained to students wanting to swap items and to interested passers-by whenever possible, so you will develop a good understanding of the environmental and social aims of the Shrub to create positive social change.
Planning monthly dates and locations in which to set up the pop-up swap shop
Coordinating with the relevant accommodation services manager to arrange space for the event
Facilitating swapping with students
Explaining the benefits of swapping rather than buying new goods and promoting the Shrub’s activities
Skills, experience and attitude needed:
Friendly with customers & confidence talking to new people
Passion for waste reduction and sustainability
Punctuality & reliability
Can work effectively with people in a consensus-based organisation: flexible & compassionate.

Tokens earned for hours worked that can be used in the swapshop.
When/how many hours: Minimum 4-5 hours once a month.
Support: Liaise with the Events & Swapshop Coordinator.
